Hebei to eliminate 10.0 million mt of steel output capacity in 2018

Yuan Tongli, vice governor of China's Hebei Province and representative of the National People’s Congress (NPC), stated during the first session of the NPC in Beijing on March 8 that Hebei Province will eliminate 10.0 million mt of iron-making capacity and 10.0 million mt of steel production capacity in 2018, which is much higher than the target announced by Hebei Environmental Protection Bureau in January.

Meanwhile, according to Mr. Yuan, Hebei Province has eliminated 64.42 million mt of iron-making capacity and 69.93 million mt of steel production capacity during the past five years.
