On July 17, major Chinese steelmaker Hebei Iron and Steel (Group) Co. announced that its subsidiary Hebei Iron and Steel International Trade Co. exported 1.954 million mt of steel products in the first half of the current year, up 52 percent year on year despite the sluggishness in overseas steel markets. The export volume of the company in question accounted for 11 percent of Hebei Iron and Steel Group's total export volume.
In addition, in the first half of the year Hebei Iron and Steel International Trade Co.'s subsidiaries in Tangshan, Handan and Chengde witnessed respective year-on-year increases of 54.65 percent, 34.52 percent and 104.3 percent in their steel product export volumes.
In the first half, Hebei Iron and Steel International Trade's cold rolled product export volume amounted to 1.0792 million mt, up 52 percent year on year.
