Hebei steel industry sees increased gross profit in 2017

In 2017, the steel industry in China's Hebei Province recorded a gross profit of RMB 71.437 billion ($11.35 billion), rising by 151.22 percent year on year, with the gross profit accounting for 22.91 percent of overall industrial gross profits in Hebei Province in the given period, as announced by the Hebei Metallurgical Industry Association.

Meanwhile, in 2017 Hebei Province’s outputs of crude steel, pig iron and finished steel amounted to 191.2147 million mt, 179.9727 million mt and 245.5108 million mt, down 0.95 percent, 3.35 percent and 2.67 percent year on year, respectively.

In the given year, finished steel imports arriving in Hebei Province totaled 78,100 mt, with a value of $106 million, down 41.19 percent and 15.70 percent year on year, respectively.
