China's Hebei Province plans to eliminate 20 million mt of steel capacity and 26 million mt of coal capacity in the period from 2018 to 2020, with the aim of restricting annual steel capacity to 200 million mt and annual coal capacity to 70 million mt by 2020, as announced by Hebei Development and Reform Commission. Considering the planned capacity cuts of 60 million mt announced in the previous years, 20 million mt indicates a slowdown in capacity elimination.
