Hebei again ranks first for steel production among Chinese provinces

As reported by the Metallurgical Industry Association in Hebei Province, Hebei Province maintained its top place in steel production in China in 2009. The province's production of crude steel, steel products and pig iron all exceeded 130 million mt in 2009, with growths of 17.48 percent, 26.83 percent and 16.88 percent respectively in the year in question, 3.98 percent, 8.33 percent and 1.01 percent higher than the average growth rates for the whole country in 2009. In 2001, steel production in Hebei Province amounted to 19.6965 million mt, and since then the province has ranked first for steel production among Chinese provinces for nine consecutive years.
