In August this year, heavy truck sales in China amounted to 73,000 units, down 3.95 percent month on month, with this decline down 23.05 percentage points from the decrease rate recorded in July. At the same time, in August heavy truck sales managed to show a 1.6 percent increase year on year, according to the data issued by cvworld.cn, a Chinese auto industry information service provider.

In the January-August period of the year, heavy truck sales totaled 805,200 units, decreasing by 2.0 percent year on year, the same declining pace as recorded in the January-July period.

Market analysts think that destocking of heavy trucks was completed in the first half of the year ahead of the introduction of new emissions standards, with restocking being observed in July and August. Policies promoting heavy trucks sales are being introduced in succession in each region of the country following the implementation of the stricter emissions standards, which will likely result in the faster growth of heavy truck sales in the fourth quarter of the year.
