The municipal government of Handan in China’s Hebei Province has issued air quality control measures aimed at achieving its air pollution control targets for the winter season. The measures in question include 50 percent production cuts at blast furnaces of 18 steelmakers in Handan, as well as production restrictions at pelletizing shaft furnaces and sintering machines. The Handan municipal government thus aims to bring its PM 2.5 air quality reading to below 67 micrograms per cubic meter in the period up to March 31.
