Germany's passenger car output up one percent in 2016

In December last year, new passenger car registrations in the German market totaled 256,600 units, down 7.2 percent month on month and increasing by four percent year on year, according to the data released by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). Meanwhile, in 2016, Germany's new passenger car registrations increased by five percent year on year, totaling 3,351,700 units.
 
According to the VDA, in December of the current year 365,100 passenger cars rolled off production lines in Germany, which represents a month-on-month decrease of 30.5 percent and a year-on-year rise of 11 percent. German passenger car output in 2016 amounted to 5,743,400 units, up by one percent compared to 2015.
 
In December last year, a total of 308,300 passenger cars were exported from Germany, down by 24.7 percent month on month and increasing by 11 percent compared to December 2015. In 2016, German passenger car exports amounted to 4,415,300 units, remaining stable year on year.
