Germany's crude steel output up in May
Data from Germany's Federal Statistical Office show that the country's crude steel output rose 0.8 percent year on year to 4.05 million metric tons in May. In addition, pig iron output for the same month rose 0.9 percent year on year to 2.56 million metric tons. Compared to the previous month, May crude steel production fell 0.8 percent and pig iron production fell 1.5 percent. German crude steel output totaled 20.45 million metric tons through the first five months of the year, up 5.8 percent year on year. In addition, pig iron output amounted to 12.89 million metric tons, up 3.8 percent on the same period last year.
