Germany's crude steel output up in April

Data from Germany's Federal Statistical Office show that the country's crude steel output rose 0.5 percent year on year to 4.08 million metric tons in April. However, pig iron output for the same month fell 0.3 percent year on year to 2.60 million metric tons.

Compared to the previous month, April crude steel production fell 2.2 percent. On the other hand, pig iron production increased two percent.

German crude steel output totaled 16.4 million metric tons through the first four months of the year, up 7.1 percent year on year. In addition, pig iron output amounted to 10.32 million metric tons, up 4.5 percent on the same period last year.
