Germany sees increase in crude steel output

Germany's crude steel output rose 1.0% year on year to 3.90 million tons in April 2005, according to data from Germany's Federal Statistical Office. Also, the country's pig iron output increased 1.6% year on year to 2.52 million tons. Compared to March 2005, production of crude steel and pig iron saw decreases of 2.5% and 3.1% respectively. Crude steel output totaled 15.55 million tons through the first four months of the year, while pig iron output amounted to 10.13 million tons.
