Germany posts year-on-year rise in steel output
Data from Germany's Federal Statistical Office show that the country's crude steel output rose 3.1 percent year on year to 3.81 million metric tons in February. Pig iron output for the same month increased 1.2 percent year on year to 2.42 million metric tons. Compared to the previous month, February crude steel production fell around 11.7 percent while pig iron production decreased 11.9 percent. German crude steel output totaled 8.13 million metric tons through the first two months of the year, up 13.9 percent year on year. In addition, pig iron output amounted to 5.16 million metric tons, up 11.7 percent on the same period last year.
