German fabricated metal production investments up 33.5% in 2011

As reported by Germany's Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), in 2011 German industrial firms with 20 or more employees invested approximately €55.2 billion in assets, increasing significantly by 17.6 percent or €8.3 billion over 2010. In 2010, the investments had increased by 0.4 percent compared to the previous year.

In 2011, German manufacturers showed a strong increase of 19.3 percent year on year in investment in the production of motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts amounting to €12.5 billion, while investments in the manufacture of fabricated metal products increased by 33.5 percent year on year to €3.9 billion. In the German mechanical engineering sector, €5.7 billion were invested in fixed assets in 2011, 22.8 percent higher than in 2010.
