German crude steel output down 4.9 percent in Jan-Apr

In April this year, Germany's crude steel output decreased by 8.7 percent year on year to 3.36 million metric tons, according to the information provided by the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl). In the January-April period, crude steel production in Germany declined by 4.9 percent year on year to 13.8 million mt.

Germany’s pig iron output in April amounted to 2.2 million mt, down 4.4 percent, while in the first four months the country’s pig iron output decreased by 3.7 percent to 8.92 million mt, both year on year.

The country's hot rolled steel output fell 5.8 percent to 3 million mt in April, while it decreased by 5.3 percent to 11.9 million mt in the first four months, both compared to the respective periods of the previous year.
