German crude steel output decreases by 5.3 percent in H1

In June this year, Germany’s crude steel output decreased by 8.4 percent year on year to 2.92 million metric tons, according to the information provided by the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl). In the January-June period this year, crude steel production in Germany fell by 5.3 percent year on year to 18.53 million mt.

Germany’s pig iron output amounted to 1.91 million mt in June this year, down 0.8 percent, while in the January-June period it decreased by 0.6 percent to 12.16 million mt, both year on year.

The country’s hot rolled steel output decreased by 4.4 percent to 2.60 million mt in June, while falling by 5.7 percent to 16.23 million mt in the first six months this year, both compared to the same periods of the previous year.
