German building permits for dwellings up 21.7 percent in 2011

In 2011, the third year-on-year rise in building permits for dwellings in Germany was observed since 2009. As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), building permits for a total of 228,400 dwellings were granted in Germany in 2011. Compared with 2010, this indicates an increase of 21.7 percent or 40,700 buildings, following a 5.5 percent year-on-year increase recorded in 2010.
