Brazilian integrated steelmaker Gerdau is seeking the B Corporation, also known as B-Corp, certificate by the end of 2021, a media report from Estadao said.

Certified B corporations are companies that are able to manage “purpose and profit.” The certificate is issued by the B Lab institution.

Gerdau reportedly started the process to get the B-Corp certification in 2019, and will continue this year.

There are 3,200 companies from 71 countries that received the certification.
