Local news media reported that a fire broke out at Gerdau's Sayreville, New Jersey steel mill Tuesday afternoon, causing the plant to temporarily halt operations until a final outcome of the investigation is determined.  The fire was at the facility's substation blockhouse, separate from the main building, but the fire caused the main plant to lose power. There were no evacuations but one firefighter was injured. Gerdau said it will still meet customer needs through existing inventory and its other mills.
