Gerdau Ameristeel acquires Callaway Building Products

Gerdau Ameristeel has purchased the assets of Tennessee rebar fabricator, Callaway Building Products. Callaway Building Products manufactures rebar and concrete products for the construction industry in East Tennessee, Eastern Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina, and Georgia. Neal McCullohs, vice president of Gerdau's Downstream Operations, said of the acquisition, "We are very excited about their expertise in the construction products business, and see this as our entry into new markets and customers." Gerdau Ameristeel is the second largest minimill steel producer, operating in as a network of 15 minimills, 17 scrap recycling facilities, and 36 downstream operations.
