French EAF steel output continues rising trend in April

French steel production saw a small increase in April this year, rising by 1.3 percent year on year to 1.837 million metric tons - according to the data issued by the French Steel Federation (FFA).

Significantly, the FFA figures indicate that French steel output in April registered a rise of 5.2 percent year on year in electric arc furnace (EAF) production, which totaled 712,000 for the month. Meanwhile, blast furnace steel production in April declined by one percent compared to last year, dropping to 1.125 million metric tons.

In the January-April period of the current year, EAF steel production in France totaled 2,756,000 metric tons, up 6.2 percent on the same period of last year. Blast furnace steel production in January-April, on the other hand, reached 4,332,000 metric tons, down 1.9 percent year on year.
