Freight volumes at large Chinese ports up 6.6 percent in January-April

In the January-April period of the current year, freight volumes handled at large ports in China totaled 4.3 billion mt, up 6.6 percent year on year, according to the latest data issued by China’s Ministry of Transportation (MOT). In particular, in the given period the foreign trade freight volume handled at large ports in China totaled 1.38 billion mt, rising by 2.6 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in the given period containers handled at large ports in China amounted to 82.77 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), increasing by 5.7 percent year on year.
