According to the statistics released by the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry, in the first half of this year France's basic steel product and ferroalloy imports amounted to a value of €4.8 billion, increasing by 26.2 percent year on year.
During the period in question, France imported €899.82 million of steel pipes and tubes - up 13.2 percent, €329 million of cold rolled steel strip - rising by 23 percent, €200.38 million of cold drawn wire - growing by 5.2 percent, €192.9 million of cold rolled steel bars - up 5.8 percent, and €811 million of metal structures and parts - increasing by 6.4 percent, all compared to the January-June period of 2016.
