France's manufacturing output in April this year decreased by 1.2 percent month on month, after a 2.8 percent month-on-month rise in March, and was up 1.6 percent year on year, according to the statistics released by France's National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE). In the February-April quarter of this year, France’s manufacturing output indicated a decrease of 0.1 percent compared to the previous quarter.
In April, France's production in manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, decreased by 0.3 percent compared to March, after a 1.8 percent rise month on month in March. In the February-April quarter, the country’s production in manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, increased by 1.3 percent compared to the previous quarter.
On the other hand, in April production of France's motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers industry saw a decrease of 6.3 percent on month-on-month basis after a 3.6 percent month-on-month rise recorded in the previous month, while the output of the domestic construction industry increased by 3.4 percent month on month in the given month after a decrease of 5.4 percent in March from February. In the February-April quarter, output of the motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers industry decreased by 3.6 percent and output of the domestic construction industry rose by 1.1 percent, both quarter on quarter.
