France's manufacturing output in January this year decreased by one percent month on month, after a one percent month-on-month fall in December, and was up 0.1 percent year on year, according to the statistics released by France's National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE). In the November-January period, France’s manufacturing output indicated an increase of 0.6 percent compared to the previous quarter.
In January, France's production in manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, decreased by 0.1 percent compared to December, after a month-on-month decrease of 2.3 percent in December. In the November-January period, the country’s production in manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, increased by 0.4 percent compared to the previous quarter.
On the other hand, in January production of France's motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers industry saw a decrease of 3.7 percent on month-on-month basis after a 0.8 percent month-on-month rise recorded in the previous month, while the output of the domestic construction industry decreased by 3.4 percent month on month in the given month after a decrease of one percent in December from November. In the November-January period, output of the motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers industry increased by 3.2 percent and output of the domestic construction industry fell by 0.5 percent, both quarter on quarter.
