France ups apparent steel use by 8.4% in Jan-April

Apparent steel consumption in France experienced a positive January-April 2007 period, rising by 8.4 percent year on year to 5.93 million metric tons - according to the latest data issued by the French Steel Federation (FFA).

During the period in question, France's apparent consumption of semi finished steel products rose 7.4 percent year on year to 416,000 metric tons, longs consumption went up by 9.1 percent to 1.9 million metric tons, while flats consumption climbed up 8.1 percent year on year to 3.58 million metric tons.

Looking at the month of April alone, apparent semis consumption in France increased 4.7 percent year on year to 111,000 metric tons, longs consumption went up 10.5 percent to 446,000 metric tons, while flats edged up by 2.8 percent to 850,000 metric tons.
