Ford announced that the carmaker is canceling plans to invest $1.6 billion to build a new factory in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.  Instead the company will invest $4.5 billion to rollout 13 electric vehicles over the next five years.  $700 million is earmarked to upgrade Ford’s Flat Rock assembly plant in Michigan.

An existing plant in Hermosillo, Mexico will build the next-generation Focus.  This production shift will give the Michigan plant, where Focus is manufactured today, the opportunity to concentrate on new products.
