West Virginia-based Follansbee Steel and its Sheet Metal Specialty Division announced Friday that it will be forced to close its 110-year-old plant unless a buyer can be found. The company, purchased in 1954 by the Ohio-based Lewis Berkman Company, attributes the closure on poor market conditions. There hasn't been a timeline put in place for the closure of the plant, which will allow time for a buyer to step forward. The reason for the delay in setting a definitive closure date is to allow the company to sell down the materials already in their inventory.
