Flat steel sales by Brazilian distributors decline in October

Brazilian sales of flat steel products by local distributors in October fell 8.3 percent, year-on-year, to 256,200 mt, the nation’s distributors association, Inda, said on Tuesday.
 
According to Inda’s data, sales of flats by local distributors rose 2 percent in the month-on-month analysis.
 
Purchases of flats by Brazilian distributors in October increased 4.8 percent, year-on-year, and 3.7 percent, month-on-month, to 272,900 mt, Inda said.
 
Inventories rose 1.9 percent in October, month-on-month, reaching 911,900 mt. Inventory turnover was stable at 3.6 months, the same level as September.
 
Imports of flats in October surged 50 percent, year-on-year, and 116.8 percent, month-on-month, to 136,400 mt.
 
As for November, Inda said it expects both the sales and purchases of flats to decline 10 percent.
