Flat steel sales at Brazilian distributors rise 4.2 percent in October

Brazilian distributor sales of flat steel products in October rose 4.2 percent, year-on-year, to 267,000 mt, the country’s steel distributors association, Inda, said on Wednesday.

According to Inda, sales of flats by local distributors in October improved 0.6 percent in the month-on-month analysis, from 265,400 mt in September.

Purchases of flat steel by Brazilian distributors in October fell 5.6 percent, year-on-year, and 2.2 percent, month-on-month, to 257,500 mt.

Distributors’ flat steel inventory in October dropped 1.1 percent, month-on-month, to 885,900 mt. Inventory turnover in October decreased to 3.3 months from 3.4 months in September.

Imports of flat steel products by distributors in October decreased 13.5 percent, year-on-year, and 13.6 percent, month-on-month, to 117,900 mt.

As for November 2017, Inda expects both sales and purchases of flat steel by local distributors to decline about 5 percent, on a month-on-month basis.
