Liaoning Province-based Chinese steelmaker Anshan Iron and Steel (Ansteel) has announced that a fire broke out at a hydrochloric acid tank at its cold rolling production line No. 1 located in the Tiexi district of Anshan city. Maintenance was being carried out on the evening of May 24 when the accident happened. The fire has been put out and no casualties have been reported. Further time will be required to assess any impact on output.
The capacity of this cold rolling line is 1.5 million mt per year, according to SteelOrbis’ information.
