Ferroalloy prices remain high

While the prices of certain raw materials used in specialty steel making skyrocketed during the past month, prices of others retreated slightly but retained levels well above those of the previous year. Ferro-vanadium traded for around $125/kg in Europe this week. The price had been below $100 two weeks ago and around $60-70 at the beginning of March. The price of ferro-molybdenum regressed from its $100/kg level at the beginning of the year to the current $77-82/kg. The price had been around $17/kg in January 2004. The price of vanadium has increased more than 1'100% since January 2004, while the price of molybdenum increased almost 450%.
