Swiss-headquartered resources company Ferrexpo, whose main interests are in Ukrainian iron ore assets, has announced its production results for July and for the first seven months of 2010.
Accordingly, in January-July this year, the company registered a 3.5 percent increase year on year in its iron ore production to around 16.75 million metric tons, while its concentrate production saw a 9.9 percent rise to 6.48 million metric tons.
During the given period, Ferrexpo's pellet production (from its own raw materials) increased by seven percent year on year to 5.214 million metric tons. The company also processed 532,900 metric tons of pellets from purchased raw materials to meet ongoing higher demand, bringing its overall pellet output to 5.747 million metric tons - up 17.4 percent year on year.
In July this year, Ferrexpo's pellet production from purchased raw materials went up by 2.7 percent month on month to 88,300 mt, while its pellet production (from its own raw materials) registered a 0.6 percent decrease month on month to 773,500 mt, thus leading to a 0.3 percent drop month on month in the company's overall July pellet output, which amounted to 861,800 mt - up 14.1 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in July, the company's iron ore output went up by 13 percent, and its concentrate production increased by 1.8 percent, both compared to the previous month. The respective figures in metric tons were 2.55 million and 970,200.
