Swiss-headquartered resources company Ferrexpo, whose main interests are in Ukrainian iron ore assets, has announced its production results for August and for the first eight months of 2010.
Accordingly, in January-August this year, the company registered a 3.3 percent increase year on year in its iron ore production to 19.14 million metric tons, while its concentrate production saw an 8.9 percent rise to 7.4 million metric tons.
During the given period, Ferrexpo's pellet production (from its own raw materials) increased by 6.2 percent year on year to 5.97 million metric tons. The company also processed 564,400 metric tons of pellets from purchased raw materials to meet ongoing higher demand, bringing its overall pellet output to 6.534 million metric tons - up 15.5 percent year on year.
In August this year, Ferrexpo's pellet production from purchased raw materials went down by 35.7 percent month on month to 31,500 mt, while its pellet production (from its own raw materials) registered a 2.4 percent decrease month on month to 755,100 mt, thus leading to an 8.7 percent drop month on month in the company's overall August pellet output, which amounted to 786,600 mt - up 3.1 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in August, the company's iron ore output went down by 6.1 percent, and its concentrate production decreased by 1.8 percent, both compared to the previous month. The respective figures in metric tons were 2.4 million and 952,500.
