Experts: China to hit 345 million tons output in 2005

Experts forecast that China’s domestic steel production could reach 345 million tons in 2005. Broken down into specific categories, output of flat and strip products could account for 35.8% of projected 2005 output at 124 million tons. Such output would mark a 20.3% year-on-year increase. At 181 million tons, section, bar and wire rod output would account for 52.04% of total output, up 13.7% year-on-year. Pipe products may reach 24.5 million tons, while other steel products could approach nearly 12.5 million tons.
