In April this year, new commercial vehicle registrations in the European Union (EU) fell by 67 percent year on year to 61,369 units as most of Europe was under lockdown for the entire month, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA).
In April, new commercial vehicle registrations declined in all major EU markets. The largest year-on-year decreases were recorded in Spain (-87.8%), Italy (-85.5%), and France (-82.4%). Also, in Germany new commercial vehicle registrations contracted by 45.1 percent in the given month.
In the first four months of this year, new commercial vehicle registrations in the EU totaled 473,910 units, down 34.5 percent on year-on-year basis, due to the impact of the coronavirus on March and April results. Spain (-46.6%), France (-41.6%), Italy (-41.4%) and Germany (-22.5%) all saw demand for commercial vehicles decrease in the given period.
