The Istanbul Ferrous and Non-ferrous Metals Exporters' Association (IDDMIB) has announced that the October 2018 meeting of the Germany-based association of the European International Contractors (EIC) will be held in Istanbul.
According to the IDDMIB, this year's second meeting of the EIC, which holds meetings twice a year in different European cities, was held in Paris, France, on October12-13. During the meeting, the need for infrastructure projects and the funding issue, which is the biggest problem facing infrastructure projects, were discussed. The chairman of the Sectoral Committee of Turkish Building Materials, Serdar Urfalilar, also attended the Paris meeting to speak on the subject of Turkish building materials and convey the quality and reliability of Turkish production.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Urfalilar also referred to the funding issue, stating that in Turkey there are many "mega projects" such as urban transformation projects, nuclear power plant projects, the construction and further improvement of the high-speed railway systems and the construction of hospitals, stressing that financing is the first issue that comes to mind when mega projects are discussed.
