The European Confederation of Iron and Steel Industries (Eurofer) has welcomed the European Commission's (EC) proposal to impose provisional antidumping measures of 25 percent on imports of wire rod from China.

"The proposed level of measures correctly addresses the injury suffered by the EU from import surges of dumped Chinese wire rod. We very much welcome the proposed measures against China; they are timely, coming at a very critical period for the market," said Eurofer director general Gordon Moffat in a press statement.

"However, we do not understand the EC's decision to exclude Turkey from the proposed imposition of measures, as significant dumping margins have been found by the investigation. The final stage of the investigation will allow the clarification of this outstanding issue," Mr. Moffat added.
