Euro area annual inflation up to 1.5% in February from January level

Annual inflation in the euro area was 1.5 percent in February this year, up from 1.4 percent in January, according to a report released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities. In February 2018, the annual inflation rate was 1.1 percent.

Meanwhile, in the European Union (EU-28) annual inflation was 1.6 percent in February, up from 1.5 percent in January. In February 2018, the annual inflation rate in the EU-28 was 1.4 percent.

The lowest inflation rates in February this year were observed in Ireland (0.7%) and Greece, Croatia and Cyprus (all 0.8%), whereas the highest annual rates were recorded in Romania (4%), Hungary (3.2%), and Latvia (2.8%). Compared with January, in February annual inflation fell in seven member states, remained stable in one and rose in 19.
