Euro area annual inflation falls to -0.2 percent in February

Annual inflation in the euro area was -0.2 percent in February this year, down from 0.3 percent in January, according to a report released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities. In February 2015, the annual inflation rate was -0.3 percent.
 
Meanwhile, in the European Union (EU-28) annual inflation was also -0.2 percent in February, down from 0.3 percent in January. In February 2015, the annual inflation rate in the EU-28 was -0.3 percent.
 
In February this year, negative annual rates were observed in 15 states. The lowest inflation rates were observed in Cyprus (-2.2%) and Romania (-2.1%), while the highest were observed in Belgium (1.1%) and in Austria and Malta (both 1.0%).
