EU-27 construction output down slightly in Sept from Aug

According to a report released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities, in September this year the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in the European Union member states (EU-27) decreased one percent as compared to August and was up 0.6 percent compared to September 2010. In August, production decreased 0.3 percent compared to the previous month, according to the newly revised data.

In the EU, building construction in September decreased by 1.5 percent month on month and remained stable compared to September 2010, while civil engineering rose by 0.2 percent from August and was up by three percent as compared to the same month last year.

As compared to August, construction output in September increased in Slovenia by 7.8 percent, in Poland by 4.1 percent and in Slovakia by 3.9 percent, while month-on-month decreases of 5.8 percent, 5.1 percent and 2.3 percent respectively were registered in France, Portugal and the UK.
