EU to raise Ukrainian steel quota by 4.9%
As a result of the negotiations between representatives of the Ukrainian government and the European Commission (EC), which were held on September 7-8, 2006, in Kiev, the EC agreed to support the increase of Ukrainian quota on supplies of steel products to the European Union (EU) for year 2006 by 4.9 percent or 52,000 metric tons, announced the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine. According to the Ministry's statement, the EC is willing to back the raise of quota for SA1 (hot rolled coils) by 30,000 metric tons, for SA3 (other flat-rolled products) by 20,000 metric tons and for SB1 (beams) by 2,000 metric tons.
