Jean-Claude Juncker, president of the European Commission (EC), has said in a letter to Aleksandar Vucic, president of Serbia, that the safeguard measures on steel imports planned by the EU will not negatively affect the trade flows to Serbia, according to media reports. Juncker underlined that the proposed measures include a revision clause which allows measures to be adapted if they lead to negative outcomes on the EU’s trade partners. The commission will review the import data until July 2019 and will revise safeguard measures if necessary.

Earlier in January, Vucic had sent a letter to the EC president expressing his concerns over potential consequences of the EU measures on the Serbian steel industry.
