EU to consider market economy status for Ukraine
According to a recent statement of a EU representative, the European Union will consider to grant
Ukraine market economy status in March 2003.
Ukraine is requested to provide certain requested information this year. After completion of studies, the EU will base its decision on the information provided by
Ukraine.
The EU representative emphasized that in case the EU refuses granting
Ukraine market economy status by March 2003, such decision should not be taken as final and
Ukraine will be asked to provide further information in order for the EU to reconsider the issue again.
