EU new passenger car registrations up 2.7 percent in January-April

In April this year, new passenger car registrations totaled 1,306,273 units in the European Union (EU), increasing 9.6 percent year on year, after demand decreased in March, according to the latest figures issued by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA).

In April, all major EU markets performed well, Spain (12.3%), the UK (10.4), France (9.0%), Germany (8.0%) and Italy (6.5%).

Meanwhile, in the January-April period of this year, new passenger car registrations in the EU increased to 5,478,442 units, up 2.7 percent year on year, driven by last month’s robust growth. In this period, Spain (11.0%), Germany (5.0%) and France (4.4%) saw their demand increase, while car demand in the United Kingdom fell by 8.8 percent, all on year-on-year basis.
