The European Union (EU) may impose quotas on Brazilian exports of steel, according to a media report from Valor. The trade bloc reportedly has until December to make a decision on whether it will impose quotas to Brazilian steel or tariffs, following Trump’s 25 percent import tariff.

EU Commissioner for Trade Cecilia Malmstrom said in a report that the EU may impose the restriction to the foreign steel by mid-July. The media report said the EU could keep Brazilian steel export volumes to Europe at similar levels when compared to the last few years.
