Esmark buys Miami Valley Steel
Esmark got out their checkbook Tuesday, May 17, and bought Ohio-based Miami Valley Steel for $81 million. Miami Valley Steel Services is one of the nations largest independent distributors of flat rolled steel. Last year it sold about 200000 tons from its 325000 square foot Piqua, Ohio processing facility. Esmark CEO, James P. Bouchard pointed out that the acquisition makes Esmark one of the nations largest flat-roll buyers with annual purchases of 800000 tons of cold-roll and coated products. Esmark confirmed that Brian R. Williamson will remain Miami Valleys president and join the Esmark board of directors. Williamson said, Im excited about the future of Miami Valley Steel Services.
