Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending May 24, the US rotary rig count decreased by four to 983 rigs following a one-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by one to 186, while the number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by five to 797. The overall rig count is now down by 76 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 15 to 78 rigs in the week ending May 24, following no change the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by three rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
