Russian steel scrap exports up 4 percent in 2018

According to provisional customs data for the country, Russia exported 5.18 million mt of ferrous scrap in the 12-month period of 2018, up 4 percent from 4.98 million mt of scrap exported in 2017. In December, Russia exported 0.41 million mt of scrap.

Russia exported 2.48 million mt (48 percent) to Turkey, 0.95 million mt (18 percent) to Belarus, 0.93 million mt (18 percent) to South Korea, 0.14 million mt (3 percent) to Greece, 0.10 million mt (2 percent) to Spain, 0.09 million mt (2 percent) to Egypt, and 0.49 million mt (9 percent) to other destinations including Vietnam.
