Empire Industries sells KWH Constructors and Somerset Engineering for C$1.4 million

Winnipeg, Canada-based structural steel fabricator Empire Industries Ltd. announced Thursday that it has divested its KWH Constructors and Somerset Engineering business units for C$1.4 million. The transaction is part of Empire's plan to reduce its investment in domestic steel fabrication and erection outside of Alberta, Canada and to deploy more of its resources toward expanding its engineered products businesses. The transaction will result in a gain of C$1.3 million which will be recorded for Empire's Q1 results of fiscal 2012.
