Egypt grants licenses for four new steel mills

The Egyptian government has announced the granting of licenses for the construction of new steel mills.

Of the total five licenses in question, four have already been finalized, with one each being issued to Beshay Steel of Egypt, Suez Steel, Tiba Steel (Egyptian/Saudi Joint Venture), and to Egypt's Ezz Steel.

The remaining license is to be granted through the holding of an open tender.

Commenting on the license it received, Ezz Steel disclosed to SteelOrbis that it has obtained permission to construct a DRI manufacturing facility as well as an EAF and that detailed information will be issued later on.
